Children’s Advocacy Centers coordinate response when there are allegations of physical and sexual child abuse. Through work with local law enforcement, child protective services and medical professionals, they provide forensic interviews, medical evaluations, mental health services and victim advocacy to children under 18.
The organization unanimously selected Green for the award “in recognition of his commitment to ensuring CACs and their multidisciplinary partners have the funding and support needed to effectively respond to child abuse.”
“I’m honored to be recognized by this group, which works tirelessly to protect children across our state,” Green said. “Awareness and resources will deliver prevention and put a stop to child abuse. I am proud to fight in the Legislature for Children’s Advocacy Centers and the vital work they do every day to support our most vulnerable.”
Green is in his fourth term in the Michigan House. He serves the 67th House District, which includes the city of Lapeer and the townships of Deerfield, Elba, Hadley, Lapeer, Marathon, Mayfield, Metamora and Oregon in Lapeer County, the townships of Forest, Genesee, Richfield and Thetford in Genesee County, and Watertown Township in Tuscola County.
