Rep. Fink: Governor’s focus should be on making Michigan more competitive

State Rep. Andrew Fink, of Adams Township, issued the following statement in response to Gov. Whitmer’s 2022 State of the State address:

“Gov. Whitmer’s virtual State of the State address was just another Zoom meeting that could have been an email – lacking majorly in pertinent information our residents want to hear from her about.

“We needed to hear more about what her plans are to make Michigan more competitive by reducing our income and property tax burdens.

“Citizens across our Branch and Hillsdale county communities agree, state taxes for middle-class Michigan residents are too high. Michigan property taxes clock in well above the national average, making other states far more attractive. We cannot risk losing our talented workforce and exceptional citizens to other states that allow working families to keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets.

“Further, our small businesses are forced to endure burdensome taxes on top of everything else they have gone through over the past two years. Our job providers are the key to economic recovery, and they need real relief in the form of lowered taxes to succeed.”
